The tag line says you don’t have an iPhone, you don’t have an iPhone. Maybe its true in few cases. This post is a review on the latest buzz in the market, yes, the iPhone4
If your confused about buying the iPhone4 my review may help you make a proper decision. This is fourth generation model of the iPhone and Apple Inc has been constantly increasing the quality of the device from time to time. A good competitor to the iPhone4 is very tough to select or lets say all phones are trying to play catch up to the extreme UI experience of the iPhone4
So iPhone4 is officially released in India after one year of its announcement and is available to two carriers now Airtel & Aircel and the unlocked versions are available on many stores like Croma and Imagine.
This time Apple has gone for the brick or we can say slab design. The iPhone 4 measures in at 4.5-inches in height and 2.31-inches in width. The iPhone comes in two memory sizes the 16GB and the 32 GB and in two colors Black and White. The device sports a resolution of 640×960 with a “Retina Display” that means even at 180 degrees we will get the same clarity as the one at zero degrees. The outer glass of the iPhone is the one used in trains and helicopters windshields, therefore the question of durability is answered. The glass is made 20 times stiffer and 30 times harder than plastic as claimed by Apple. Unlike the 3GS the sides of the phone have been ornamented with brushed stainless steels buttons and strips replacing the plastic in earlier generations.
One the left side are the volume buttons along with silenter button. The top contains the 3.5 mm headphones socket along the secondary mic and as usual the sleep power button. The bottom of the phone has the Apple dock connector and set of stereo speakers in which one actually is a microphone. The right side hold the micro sim holder. The iPhone4 is stylized very well and it weighs barely 137 grams.
The iPhone3GS was a great device and the iPhone 4 has got way better. With the introduction in Multitasking and the smooth user interface the use of the iPhone is one pleasure trip for the user. The iPhone4 runs on the latest version of the Apple iOS. It uses a 1GHZ ARM COTEX A* processor and Apple A4 chipset. This helps in multitasking and high end gaming without a single lag.
The native formats supported in the phone is mpeg 4, m4v, mp4, as well as .mov. Apple supports the playing of 720p HD videos that is “if” they are supported by iTunes since iTunes doesnt support have of the mkv files and converting would be a big headache for the users. Apple should look into this case or the users can use apps and run the videos once they are dragged and dropped into the device.
The retina display plays as a big backbone for the iPhone4 as it is helps playing videos with utmost clarity.
Apple has increased the camera to 5MP with 720P HD video recording. The iPhone4 also comes with a VGA front camera which is used for video calling. As far as the camera on iPhone we don’t have to play around with the settings everything is just perfect for a ready and shoot. The natural colors are picked up really well and the camera is the best you can get in a mobile phone. Here are few shots taken by a person found on google
The next picture is a comparison of iPhone4 camera quality and the Canon 7D Dslr
With the WIFI on, streaming videos and listening to music the iPhone lasted 18 hours. Apple claims that the device can stand 7hours talk time of 3G and 14hours over 2G and 300 hours standby time but in reality it stands just half of it which is pretty amazing too.
This phone is the best out there in the market and the only competitor is the Samsung Galaxy SII. If your an Apple fan and the money isn’t a problem then you can take the iPhone without any question. This is one phone you could die for(not literally) but it is that addictive. Go for it if your pocket is heavy. Remember, IF YOU DON’T HAVE AN iPHONE4, YOU DON’T HAVE AN iPHONE4
